Osprey
I went out to photograph the wood ducks suitably equipped with a long telephoto. I'd heard they were at the end of the inlet, where they like to hide and chill. How fortuitous I thought when, on the way there, I saw the osprey high above me. Although I photographed him for some time, aside from calling out a few times, he only moved his head from side to side.
I moved on to the ducks, but it was hard to get a good position and knowing how nervous they are, I was reluctant to move too much. To my left I heard the wings of a large bird and following the sound I found the owl. Usually I hear them hooting at night and rarely see them.
Across the water a turtle basked in the evening sun, at least he remained motionless and was easy to capture. On the way home, the setting sun loomed large. All in all, a productive evening.
