A Busy Day

I had a series of visits to businesses for work to check on their covid precautions.  It was gratifying to see that with one exception they were displaying the QR code so that people with the new NHS Covid App could check in to the premises on arrival.  For the app to be successful and support the efforts to track and trace in England (there are similar apps for Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland) as many people as possible need to download and use it.  In these days of data sensitivity it is interesting to see that it works without the need to provide any personal data, only having to do this in the event that you feel it necessary to book a test.

After work, we just had time to go for a short walk.  L hadn't seen the deer this year so we took a walk around the local fields.  It seemed like we would only get to see a young male with very immature antlers until we headed back to the car and came across this mature stag with a hind and calf.  Initially I thought it was the same one from Tuesday, but some comparative work with the images indicates he is another male.  The main clues are the drooping right ear and the shape of the antlers (though it took some time to be sure).  

It certainly suggests that there maybe more fully mature stags around than in previous years.  Looking back on photos from taken previously I believe there is at least one more of this age in the wider group.  I saw him earlier this year but I haven't seen him in recent months.  I was lucky being downwind of him so was able to get reasonably close, but it also meant that the sun was behind him.
