Nuthatch (Sitta europaea)
Another bird I know! My excuse is time, the morning we made a trip to the tip recycling centre with garden waste. The afternoon was of course my regular Thursday with kanyl.
Despite the fact Nuthatches are known to nest within a couple of hundred yards or so of us we rarely see them in the garden. The last few days one and sometimes two have been in the garden. I found this one fiendishly difficult to photograph. There were two problems: the first being it nearly always chose to land and feed at the otherside of the roof support. the second it chose to land grab a seed and depart. The speed of visits meant you had to spot it focus and click very rapidly.
