A laa'l grey Fergie
After some thought and discussion this morning we decided we needed to go to Hayes in Ambleside. Before we went we check on the internet that the item was in stack. Yes! Great, so off we went. A pleasant run through the lakes on remarkably quiet roads. Lots of cars parked but very little moving.
Arriving at Hayes we parked as usual near the door. Wrong! You can't go in through the main door so we wander along to a minor door at the other end. Once inside there is no one way system, so why the strange entry. After wandering around and not finding what we wanted we asked. "We don't have room for things like that we are getting ready for Christmas"! So they missed out on a sale not to mention coffees and cake. We will be buying on line but not from Hayes, a simple "This item is only available online" inserted into the website would have helped.
On the way back we notice the road on the backside of Thirlmere was open. It has been closed since Storm Desmond. As we were much earlier than we would have been we detoured. Sadly all the roadside laybys have been blocked with rocks and tree trunks. Then when we got to the road across the dam to enable us to get to St John's in the Vale it was closed. The alternative took us on to dual carriageway so we had to go round by Keswick. (Rant over).
The blip? Nearly forgot. Hayes have for a while been using a couple of 1950s Austin A30s in the display. Today they had added this Ferguson TE20, produced for 10 years 1946 to 56. Fondly know as a"Little Grey Fergie". However Cumbrians being Cumbrians It is a Laa'l Grey Fergie.
