Love Locked in Kettwig

Last year when we were in Paris (with children in tow - no chance of romance) we walked over the bridge that seemingly started this trend, this modern take on taking a penknife to a tree trunk. There was even a guy on the bridge selling padlocks to gullible (and unprepared) lovers!
Now it seems the trend has come to little ole Kettwig, only a paltry few so far, and not on the bridge (probably because it's stone & therefore not padlockable) but rather on the fence alongside the lock next to the bridge. And who said romance was dead?
