Cousin’s country estate!

It was a wonderful sunny morning to wake up at the beach and we sat out in the sun to read before we headed back east, stopping off at Gatehouse of Fleet for fix of a Saturday Guardian.

We arrived at my UKIPy, Brexity cousin’s new abode which we’d not visited before. We parked our camper van in a discreet place and set off through the grounds at a distance from his wife. She took us the scenic route through the walled garden and via various water features, Japanese bridges and Grecian temples. We’ll have to come back in the spring as they have some fabulous rhododendrons. We climbed through the woods to find my cousin who
was up at their ‘sitootery’ by the loch where he was fishing for our supper. We had a short walk up to a hilltop for the view then picked some chanterelles which I’ll cook for starters tonight. We’ll eat at a distance outside with various braziers going to keep the midges away.

The weather has been gorgeous and sunny but a cold wind blew across the loch from the north.

Home tomorrow. We’ve had such a lovely week exploring an area we often shoot through en route for Port Patrick or Ireland.
