Football mad

After a morning doing what passes for a deep clean in this house, we went to see #3 daughter and family.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts about her struggle with the after-effects of Covid. She had felt normal on Friday but since having a walk on Saturday morning she has felt rough - clammy, dizzy and tired. She agrees she won’t consider going back to work until she gets several days in a row of feeling ok.

Nathaniel aged 7 and a half is football mad and has joined a Saturday club as well as an after-school group. He wants to be a goalie as he enjoys diving to the ground. Unfortunately he is joint shortest in the class - “including the girls” he sighs. However his Dad, after being the shortest in his class, suddenly grew to 6ft as a teenager. His Mum reminded him that if he’d not been short he’d not have got his Manchester City kit - it is £18 for age 6 but bigger sizes are £80. His pal had passed on his Newcastle strip so he has two. Here he is showing me the football cards he collects - he makes up games with them, learns all the teams, the countries the players come from and can identify the flags.

Meanwhile I hardly saw Ella as she was busy on-line doing comprehension for schoolwork. She was whizzing through it. She loves English but struggles with Maths. That’s the only subject they are setted for which might be good for her, helping her in confidence, as her friends are all better at Maths so are in different groups. The main thing is she loves being at middle school and has a happy time.

Now we are home Mr C has very kindly said he’s happy to read his book while I catch up with Strictly. The only Celeb I’ve heard of is Greg Wise. I have drawn Judy Love in the Sweepstake. I won’t judge a book by its cover.
