Mountains In My Mind

Inspired by Close Up Photographer of the Year images, I went in search of intimate landscapes, looking for shapes, textures and colour. At the base of a dead tree I found remnants of bark that took on the outline of a mountain range. Since we cannot travel in person, at least I can imagine, so that's what they became.

Quite a lot of editing to nudge the exposure towards consistency and bring out the white peaks. I reduced the dead space on the right by cropping to a 5x7, which otherwise made the image unbalanced.
