.....squeeze my lemon......
Up early...bag packed for the visit to my Dad.
Called in to see the boys.....a set of golf clubs going free...nabbed 'em for the S & H!
The drive to Dad's was uneventful and arrived around 2.30. The purpose of the visit is two fold...to look at setting up a Power of Attorney...... and to celebrate his birthday tomorrow.
The rules have changed on PoA......it's now called Living PoA....and there are two types each costing £130......Health and Welfare which, once set up, sits in abeyance until the person becomes unable to decide for themselves (so you may never need to use it).....and Property and Financial which begins as soon as it is set up. The forms to be completed are twelve pages each.......but the explanatory leaflet for each one is 44 pages long! Each PoA has to be witnessed and has to have a "person to be notified" who will be contacted to check if they have any objection to the PoA being established. We have sent for the forms and will complete them as soon as we get them.....then it takes several weeks for the formalities to be gone through by the Office of the Public Guardian before they become active...if there are any errors the application is refused...the Govt keeps the £260 and we can apply again in 3 months....for £65 each PoA!
As it was Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras/Pancake Day we had a pizza and then pancakes for dinner and then my sis went home leaving Dad and I.....I had to explain how his new TV and set top box works....again....and then we watched the Tom Cruise movie "Valkyrie".....it took a bit of explaining to Dad...he seemed a bit surprised that the plot to assassinate Hitler failed!
Off to bed around midnight...pleasant surprise...the bed was made up!
Weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look good.
