Autumn Crocus

These double blooms grace the view from the frontage of the House of the Binns the family seat of the Dalyells. Those in a larger sweep of a single variety were attractive but less impressive.

We walked through the wet grass for a view of the Forth, to watch the haar, thickest upstream (west), almost concealing the tall chimney at Longannet, gradually dissipating to the east such that Blackness Castle appeared as in mist. And the cruise ships remain in Rosyth docks as they have since early in lockdown.

Then through the woodland walk and the short climb to the tower (extra photo) for a fine view to the south. We decided against disturbing the ewes resting in the field and returned the way we had come, collecting a peacock feather or two - sadly not a sign of the birds from which they came.
