I made a brief foray (using my recently discovered snicket) to Anything and Everything, that temple of usefulness on Gt Junction Street. Of course they had some potting compost, but sadly only in 40 l bags which I thought a bit too hefty.

On my way through aforementioned snicket (actually King St, which is closed to traffic but has a way through for pedestrians) I happened to glance up and see this slightly odd thing. The hand symbol has some writing on it, in Arabic I think. I couldn't see any emblem on the flag, just black with a gold border. On my way back I checked out the sign on the door at the base of the building - it's apparently a Shia centre for Edinburgh, the Wali al-Asir Trust. Who knew? (Well, not me, obvs).
