Final curtain for the Odeon
Demolition work has begun on a former landmark Nottingham cinema in which The Beatles once performed.
The Odeon, on Angel Row, became the UK's first twin-screen cinema in 1964 but has been derelict since 2001.
Before being split into two screens, the 1930s-built venue accommodated concerts by the Beatles, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly.
Thursday....snow washed away, lets hope that's it for this year! Valentines Day too, how could i forget?!!
lots to do today, got my to do list at the ready!
went for a wander out at lunch. had a craving for some fizzy sweets, so got a shed load of pick and mix. on my way down Angel Row, i passed the old Odeon. It's been being demolished since last Sept/Oct, and they'd been saving the front of it til last! wished i'd have seen that coming down.
this was the first cinema i ever went to. Bus into town with Cheryl and co. the film was 'Back to the future' and i was 14 or 15, and it was a matinee in the school hols. such a shame to see it go. but the world of showcase, and multiplex took over.
back to work, afternoon seemed quite long.
picked up a couple of valentines pressies for Pete on my way home! a huge snake, a new collar and a ball for us to play over the fields with. but all he was bothered about is FOOD! (he's his owners doggy!)
spinning class tonight, and we virtual cycled the Snake Pass! excellent work out, and i deserved a glass of sparkly when i got in! Happy Valentines to you all!
