Strange bright shiny thing in the sky

It was a common or garden day of irritation and drudgery at the interface except for a strange luminescent object that appeared in the sky and startled the entire population of Edinburgh.

When I got home I found a red rose in a vase and a bottle of champagne - it's almost as if there were an unreconstructed romantic Fifer in the building. :-)
