Platform escapement

Two more clocks arrived on my doorstep today which means that the last couple of days of quarantine won’t be boring. I have stripped them down today and reassembled the platform escapement of one of the clocks. This one is substantial and well-made. The platform escapement, with its balance wheel and hairspring, performs the same function as a pendulum in that it regulates the speed the wheels of the mechanism turn at and therefore the timekeeping of the clock.
