Guess who’s coming to dinner....

Actually just Charlotte and John, local friends.  Very jolly evening. Cooked something out of Diana Henry’s Oven to table which meant it was all very simple and I didn’t get marooned in the kitchen. It’s a knack I’ve been trying to learn for years - really good cooks seem to make it happen effortlessly.  

The rain actually disappeared for much of the afternoon despite all the warnings and so we managed a reasonable walk.   However the welcome sight of the river filling back up shows we have already had a great deal.
