Wytham Woods
I drove to Oxfordshire this afternoon, and visited 2 old friends en route to staying over at Ruth and Josh's old house in North Aston.
Before setting off to N Aston, Jon (my old friend from university days) suggested a walk in Wytham Woods. What a wonderful place: mixed woodland, with many large, mature beech trees. The light filtered gently through their still-green leaves. After a lot of rain earlier in the day, everything was saturated, all the colours extra-vivid. It's a research site for Oxford University, as well as being a refuge for walkers and runners.
Then I drove on to Ruth and Josh's old house, which is nearly empty now. They are in Sheffield this eve, but Josh will drive here very early tomorrow morning, in time for 7.30 a.m. milking at the dairy. I'm here to take some photos of the dairy, for Josh and the rest of the family. Soon Josh will finish his handover to the business partner who is buying him out, and a new chapter will begin.
