It is Friday
Great surprise at Burgundy's last night as it was Quay Change. one of my favourite jazz groups. Each one of this quartet is so talented and in different ways. Amy Worth is a brilliant vocalist and not just a fantastic voice but clearly senses the music and hits those notes and phrases with confidence. And of course she is most glamourous and always a joy to meet especially with that beaming smile. So it is no surprise that aspire to do justice to her beauty and character in my sketches - but ahh it is a challenge because when she is singing she is dancing away which not only mesmerises my senses but makes her so difficult to sketch. And here she is singing and I am sure she was looking at me then!!!!
Enough about Amy - no wonder that I am emotionally drained at the end of the gig.
Laurence, on the right on bass guitar - maybe not so glamourous - but I can watch and listen to him for hours with his rich solos. Being so laid back in his playing, he is so much easier to capture in a sketch.
And Fred Binley, on the left, is so versatile on his keyboards - switching keys, tempos etc as he speaks - what a brain and an incredible path to his fingers!
Last night being Valentine's Day - they slipped into quite a few romatic songs and this was complemented by all the effort that Susie had gone to put heart shaped chocolates wrapped in scarlet red paper on the tables. Even Ted got into the romantic mood with his pink cap!!
And finally not forgetting that Gwen not only won the raffle but had become a gran for the second time!!! Yes it all happens at Burgundy's
