Valentine's Day

Mexico is big on holidays, any excuse to party. So along with their many national holidays, they are starting to adopt many of those from the United States, including Valentine's Day. We picked friends up at the airport and it was all decked out with hearts and red balloons (our friends said there was nothing at LAX when they left). The real surprise came when we visited the basketball court. There was a Cuban band performing for a packed house of loving couples, honored guests (shown here), and of course dancing children (also shown here). It was quite the boisterous party and we were there prior to anything really getting going (because we still not used to starting the festivities at midnight or later). If we hadn't been so hungry I'm sure we would have joined the crowds ringing the court to enjoy the fabulous music at the Gran Festival de la Salsa con Amor.
