A Straggler

Dear Diary,

John will be here tomorrow afternoon to begin cutting back the garden.  This Rubeckia didn't get the memo.  I saw a little spot of orange from the backdoor and wondered what it could be.  It was just a Rubeckia straggler putting on a brief, last appearance.  I will go out and pick it so it will have a few more days on my breakfast table.  I hate to see summer go.
