Aitkendean Valley
Today was a day when I went out photographing with my two friends and I should have had a wide choice of blips but as so often happens on photographic jaunts, the end result is somewhat less impressive than the experience at the time. It was a lovely sunny day and for winter the tones were remarkably warm. We headed slowly towards the Lammermuir Hills and spent some time in this dip in the road where it goes down through a ford. Needless to say the water was quite low today but being quite close to the hills it does flood quite regularly in wet weather. Some of the bare trees in this small valley were quite striking and the sun seemed to the naked eye to be picking them out. However, to get the image to isolate them in a similar way, I have had to work quite hard in Lightroom using contrast, clarity and tone curves. I have also had to clone out electricity pylons and lines which I had not noticed on the skyline.
