Recharging
We're finding it easier to sort out the charging. We had rather a long drive from home to Tranent, just South of Edinburgh. It included two stops for recharging, which both passed without complication. This was the second, which was in Alnwick by the leisure centre, which was particularly good, as it didn't ask for any identification or any money - not sure if that was a fault, or if this is Northumberland County council's attempt to encourage the use of electric cars, but we didn't complain!
We had largely good weather for the drive, just skirting the edge of what looked like a heavy shower over York. The only problem we encountered was in the last 20 miles or so, and that was largely of our own making. Our Sat Nav is, of course, a thinking being, and clearly knew we had driven a long way, and thought we must be tired of slogging up the A1, so just as it was getting dark she decided to take us down an alternative "short cut" along what were undoubtedly very interesting B roads.
I was driving, W checked with Google, who disagreed, and recommended staying on the A1, but I took the driver's prerogative and took the minor roads. I loved it - we saw deer, bats, a hare, a pheasant playing Chicken, sheep standing in one of the plastic boxes used for salt. There were bends, hills, valleys, cattle grids, narrow bridges. So much more interesting than the A1. But not very good for W's tendency to travel sickness, so by the time we arrived at our AirBnb, he was feeling rather iffy.
The self-catering AirBnb flat is great, and just up the road from Glenkinchie distillery, so IF they are still open for business, and that may be in doubt in view of the recent increase in lockdown, I think we may pop in there!
