We had a slow start to the day. We were quite tired after our long drive yesterday. The plan had been to have our "Sunday poached eggs" this morning, as we expect a relatively early start tomorrow. W put the water on to boil, looked for the eggs, asked me where I had put them, and at that point we realised they are still in Norfolk. We've actually brought more than enough food with us to last our stay, but forgotten this important breakfast item.
So breakfast was our usual toast (or in my case, toasted crumpets) and fruit.
Eventually we stirred ourselves to walk down towards the distillery - unfortunately we discovered it is currently closed to visitors whilst they do a major revamp of the facilities.
After a wander around there, and a chat to a couple of locals, we walked back up, and past, our accommodation, intending to follow a path mentioned by our hosts. Just as I stopped to take a photo of this carving, it started to rain. So we retreated to our flat, had a cup of coffee/tea, and relaxed for a while.
Later, we drove to the local village, where the Spar shop was able to fulfill our need for eggs, but also had some 12yr old Glenkinchie (the local distillery) which I was *compelled* to buy.
This evening we've had a simple, but very tasty meal of fish, potatoes and purple sprouting broccoli, and arranged to meet ArcLight and Mr A for a walk tomorrow.
