Taking Advantage
Today it touched 80°F, the warmest for a few weeks, reminiscent of summer. Sadly it won't last; make the most of it. A dogwood growing out over the water, is rooted in the fallen trunk of an old willow. Its host, half in, half out of the water, has sent up new shoots, so hopefully both will survive.
The plums and reds and oranges of the dogwood leaves, lit brilliantly in the late afternoon sun, contrast with the green water in shadow behind. I chose a shallow depth of field to accentuate my subject.
The red stems remind me that the dogwood provides useful colour in the snow, the first of which might only be a matter of weeks away.
