Cup Final

My friend Chris said that he was going to watch a game of football at Farnborough with his son Ciaren and asked if I wanted to go.  Instinctively I said yes, but as I sat in Steve from number 11's back garden with a beer in my hand celebrating his birthday, the urge had gone.  I asked Chris if he really wanted to go and said he didn't, but that he had promised Ciaren that he would take him as one of his friends was playing.  Steve from number 11 said he had nothing better to do and decided to join us.

So it turned out that the match was in the Aldershot and Camberley Sunday Football League Division 5, and that it was the Cup Final from last season that couldn't be played until now.   Morley Road Academicals started brightly and raced into a 3-0 lead at the break.  We thought that this would be the game over, but AFC Bowenhurst were awarded a penalty which they scored, a second penalty which they scored, and bizarrely a third penalty, which their goal-keeper saved.  Morley Road broke and scored a fourth before Bowenhurst made it 4-3 with five or so minutes to play.  What better way for the birthday boy to celebrate his 44th birthday?
