Deeply Symbolic
Ever since 28th March 2017, this fountain & roundabout have become very important to me. It was the day before Theresa May sent the Brexit Article 50 letter to the EU and the day I started the process of getting German citizenship.
It is our county capital's Europe fountain to celebrate the Town-Twining it has with amongst others, East Grinstead. I was here today to deregister my 18-year-old Jeep and register my new set of wheels which is only 22 years old! German system allows you to easily transfer your old number plate.
Had to wait a good hour in the large display foyer with chairs spread out at good 2m distance, everybody wearing masks and more or less total silence. Weird, uncomfortable surroundings.
Then off to the police station feeling like a criminal. Had to wake them up but quickly dealt with my proof that the Jeep has now been taken off the road and so I won't know have to face any unexpected knocks on the front door. The new police station seems to be more secure than Fort Knox. In the extras, included is photo of police station and from exactly the same spot, one of Mindelheim's city gates. Stark contrast.
Back home stopping at the garage to stick the new old plates on the VW Polo. In the evening set off in glorious sunshine to collect the car and on the way collected up a party helium balloon that had landed in a field. Luckily walked past friend's house with a very young daughter and was able to offload the thing. Oh, how times have changed. Used to think how lovely such balloons were! As we headed through the village, a thunderstorm approached at an alarming rate and we got to the car just as the heavens opened. Successfully guided the car home.
