Calm
Another paddling day - what else should we do in this weather? The usual afternoon wind never arrived, so we made it to the shell heaps where the harbour channel opens out into the bay. The Dumbarton Bridge with its familiar giant pylons visible to the south. It's a five mile round trip, interrupted by many cooling swims today!
I believe (but somebody could tell me I'm wrong) that the large mounds of shells mark places where the original inhabitants, the Ohlone, harvested the shellfish over many centuries before the Europeans arrived.
