Common Redpolls
We had some new guests at the feeders today. Along with the gold finches I saw these new little birds which I thought were house finches but they had a rusty red spot on their heads. Looked up my bird book and saw that these birds looked very much like the Common Redpoll. They apparently winter as far south as half way down the United States and spend their summers up towards the Arctic. Pretty little birds!
