Stranger Danger

We did the rainbows, we did the clap, and now it's time to scare the virus!

For obvious reasons, here and probably there, we will have no trick or treating this Hallowe'en (aka, Samhain if you do it properly). The village has come together to put out blood curdling scarecrows instead, with a view to giving the kids something to do rather than venerate their ancestors.

The normal collection of parents gathering to pick up their little ones from school had an addition today... perhaps he's simply come to speak to the children about stranger danger. He's certainly not scaring the crows, who are having a bit of a nibble at his right wrist.

I really feel the whole of 2020 has been a bloody hard trick for most people, and personally I can't wait for the treat. Sadly though, being the cynic I am, I feel we're simply going to get a bigger trick.
