Summertime Blues

A particularly grey and wet day to mark the end of British Summertime. Apart from a quick session in the gym this evening, the day has been - and will be - spent slobbing out in front of the telly.
Decided I had to grab a picture of something before the light totally went, and noticed our Acer is still hanging on to its leaves. I say hanging on because, if you look closely at the picture, you can see there are some bare twigs in front of the house opposite. Only a few days ago they were full of bright red leaves that now form a carpet around the base. The sight of a few leaves floating in the bird bath would suggest that our tree will not be far behind in losing its foliage.
Given that rain is forecast for the next week or so, I suspect our routine for the rest of October is going to be little different to today. Hibernating until Spring is looking more and more attractive.
