Fading light
A day of heavy downpours so I spent the morning sorting out my vegetable and flower seeds - recording varieties I have used this year, how they grew, and noting seeds I want to purchase for growing next year.
My body hasn't adjusted to the clocks going back so I had an early lunch and went to the allotment for several hours. I got caught in several heavy downpours but had my waterproof gear on so it was fine, although the mud got a bit sticky. I spent two hours pulling up weeds, including brambles and nettles which have grown on the plot I acquired last September and which I am still clearing. Most of it is under matting to suppress the weeds and I hope to start digging it properly next spring once most of the weeds have rotted away. There is an area at the front and back of the plot which are not covered and it is incredible how much biomass has appeared, just in the last few months.
I returned home and had two big mugs of tea and a piece of home-made lemon cake with raspberries and yoghurt! Andy had been out practicing his golf - he is playing tomorrow morning.
This blip is from Emsworth where we went for a late afternoon walk next to the sea. The sky was filled with different shades of blue and grey and the foreboding clouds lingered around.
Hope your day has gone well and that you haven't got soaked.
