Spent Grain Bread
I can’t bear to waste good food, so when we were offered the spent grain from our beer brewing course yesterday we all took some home. This is my homemade loaf. It certainly looks and feels good but obviously as yet untried.
I’m also cooking a stew (to go with the bread) which has also got spent grain in it to bulk and thicken it.
As part of the brewing process, all the sugar is removed from the grains but this leaves behind lots of protein and fibre. Waste not want not. Looking forward to dinner later.
