GAZANIA linearis: Striped Treasure Flower
Today I walked in a neighborhood that I haven’t seen in awhile. I was looking for a TINY Halloween decoration that was not ghoulish. I failed, but I found this colorful flower.
GAZANIA is commonly grown here in large grouping, almost like a ground cover in
tree lawns & slopes. It handles our brutal summer sunshine & is drought tolerant.
When I saw this pretty orange flowering clump, at first I didn’t know what it was.
I have never seen it grown as a single plant & this variety is new to me. Alone, it was quite striking. And it is very festive with its Autumn colors.
