Obsession Confession

Today's photo was taken after a quick grocery shop at Akmerkez, looking down, rather than up (though I did that too) at the jazzy blue lighted elevators and ground floor cafe. Just five minutes from campus, I have been coming here since 1999.

Akmerkez is a shopping mall located in the Etiler quarter of Istanbul, Turkey. It was commissioned on December 18, 1993 by a joint venture of the Akkök, Tekfen and Istikbal companies. In 1995, Akmerkez was chosen as the best shopping center in Europe by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In the competition, organized by this same council, Akmerkez was recognized as the best shopping center in the world in 1996. It also received the highest accolade given by the ICSC, the "International Design and Development Award". I have realised just why Blipfoto has become such an enjoyable obsession for me. I am looking at ordinary things in extraordinary ways and try to view the familiar from an unfamiliar viewpoint and I am really enjoying the challenge and process of selecting just one image to represent each day.
