I asked my nephews yesterday what they'd like to do today. Connor said it could be my choice, but he was unimpressed with my choice of maths puzzles all day. His brother suggested Mario Cart on the Wii all day, but that was instantly vetoed by me as I'm officially the worst Mario Kart player ever. My sister came up with a more sensible suggestion of trying the half term treasure hunt at Ashby Castle.

It was a perfect day for wandering round the ruins, climbing the 98 steps of the tower and (after some gentle persuasion) going through the tunnel. Both boys enjoyed their school projects on castles & they both had the audio tour stuck to their ears listening intently to every word. They loved the day out, so we've signed up for English Heritage membership for the year to see how many more castles we can visit.
