Barns Castle
Out in East Lothian we passed Barns Castle, looking suitably spooky in silhouette. The added bonus of a skein of geese completed the picture.
We discovered the Kilduff Pumkin Farm by accident, and, although signage indicates entrance by ticket only, we were allowed in, having given our contact details - possibly as we were just a day away and the field was not busy. Small-fry compared with the type so common in the USA, the staff could not have been more friendly and, with so many attractions to amuse or entertain (extra photo), made the purchase of a modest pumpkin or two an enjoyable exercise for all ages.
Ours is to be put outside for the local children to spot and, in so doing, be rewarded by their parents, so we need not be concerned for their safety Trick-or-treating - a great scheme enacted nationwide, as far as I can tell. Mr Flum is busy carving as I write.
I understand that we might expect one Trick-or-treater that we may not recognise except by his addressing us as Nana and Grandad...I had better look out some rewards. Can I knit a spider, perhaps?
