Delhi

A windy day, with some showers, and also a good bit of sunshine.

Up early, and out walkies after breakfast.  Spent some time in the garden this morning.  Popped along Madeline's while out.  Met mam for lunch, and then we headed north to pick up a rose plant from cousin Eileen.  Set up my Halloween decorations tonight, but had to change my plans with the gales coming over the weekend, typical!  Had a walk around Scalloway, a good few houses decorated this year.

While north, we stopped off to see my great granny Kirsty's family house.  Great great granddad, Daa Broon (Andrew Brown) must have moved here with his second wife in the early 1900s.  Mam o Nissetter (Kirsty - Christina Andrina), was born here in 1906, and went on to marry great granddad Dodie (George Mitchell Arthur).  Mam speaks fondly of her, being a kind gentle lady, and also of her dad, Daa Broon.  I never met her, but knew her oldest sister, aunt Mi, who lived to 102, also aunt Jessie and uncle Simon, all siblings.  Known as Delhi, but formerly named Twartburns. There are a lot of old croft houses named after famous cities, and other comical themes of the time.  The house is still occupied by our family, granddad Mitchell's first cousin Peter Brown.  Taken at Delhi, Ollaberry.
