River of Flowers

Monday: Chutney Day ...

... it’s been put off long enough, it took most of the day!
Cut tomatoes into halves, removing the coarse stingy bits which attach to the stem - about 2 kilos of them. Poured boiling water onto them, easy way of removing skin! Went off and did some family history ...
End of the morning, removed skins from tomatoes, roughly chopped them into a very large pan. Added lots of crushed garlic, chopped red onions and softened everything up.
Out to the garden to collect the last Bramley Apple windfalls, chopped up the nice flesh and threw all the skins, bruised bits and cores out for the birds & bugs.
Had a little inspection of the garden whilst I was outdoors - ground very wet and still very windy but lovely to have fresh air :-))
The little Acer has prettily coloured leaves, changed a lot since last Tuesday ...
MrD arrived home for lunch, made us cups of tea and left him watching the news :-((
He went off to finish his deliveries and to buy meat for restocking the freezer.
Added herbs, spices, brown & white sugar and cider vinegar and warmed the chutney mixture up, then rapid boil and slow reduction ... late afternoon and a nice stock of jars of chutney!
Stay safe & healthy and happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
