Ettington
After lunch we went to the nearby village of Ettington for a walk. We started at Holy Trinity Church, built in 1902-3 and influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement to replace the second and original churches of the village, both of which have left remains. We didn't reach the original church ruins, also Holy Trinity, which is just outside the village at Ettington Park.
The original Holy Trinity Church was in Lower Ettington, a village that was demolished in the 18th century when the Lords of the Manor, now Ettington Park Hotel, decided they wanted a larger park area for their deer.
There is also a 17th century Friends Meeting House and garden, but unfortunately it was locked off, presumably because of Covid.
