Sunset
Today I managed to get the pond underlay and liner down and over half filled. I've left it overnight to ensure the liner has moved into place rather than just stretched, plus I want to put some pebbles on the shallow beach part. I went out to the local garden centre to get some more pebbles, but no joy, although I did get this sunset photo. The liner was much bigger than needed as I suspected, but I went from the website calculator - better too big than too small.
Excellent news that Biden is unofficially President Elect and how wonderful to see a black woman as Vice President Elect. Hopefully the President will drop the legal action and concede.
Day 237 / Day 3 of Lockdown 2 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 413 to 48,888 (revised basis), with 24,957 new cases, 12,949 patients in hospital and 1,185 in ventilator beds. Globally over 50m to date have been confirmed to have had Covid-19, with 1.25m deaths. France had a record number of daily cases yesterday at 60,486. There are c40,000 registered nursing vacancies in the NHS in England, and in addition c30,000 health service staff are off with coronavirus or having to self isolate - a very worrying staffing gap. The UK has now banned non-UK citizens arriving from Denmark (re mink virus mutation in humans), and UK citizens can still return providing they and members of their household self isolate for 2 weeks, with cabin crew no longer being exempt - a good move. Hospitals in Gtr MCr are treating more Covid patients than at the peak of the first wave, with non-urgent care suspended. Liverpool has added another 8 testing centres to the original 6 with 12,000 tested on Friday.
