Planning

It's been pretty grey weather, but I have had a good day in the studio.

First off, we had a session on the exercise equipment.  I cycled around Turkey on my static cycle (the app was working today, thank goodness), getting very hot and sweaty in the process.  I've been contemplating for a while how to improve the experience.  I have a recumbent cycle, with hand grips beside the seat, but also grips on the front; but I hate holding those, because when my palms are sweaty, my hands slip downwards.  But actually, I can cycle more effectively if I hold these.  So once showered and coffee'd, I used an old towel to make some soft absorbent covers for these grips.

My next household/garden project is to make covered cushions for my dad's bench.

We have a piece of foam - long and relatively narrow.  The only sensible way to cut it is to make 4 cushions, two for the seat and two backs.  And I have pieces of three different materials, none of which are big enough to do the whole job.

So I spent some time this afternoon planning exactly how I am going to cut the foam and then make the cushion covers.  I even used a bit of an old duvet cover to sew what I thought would work, and ensure that it actually does work.

And I finished off with an hour or so on the flute.

It's now gin time.  W is cooking a curry, and I'm going to light the fire - it's barely cold enough, but it makes the living room so much more inviting.
