Wren in the woodpile...
... Himself has been muchly digging in the garden today.
The birds are beside themselves.
They're partly pleased to dig alongside him for whatever spoils they can lay their beaks on. And partly they are chiding him for digging up some of their favourite shrubs. (I should add that he has carefully waited until the birds have finished nesting. Also, the plan is to replace with something better). At least I think that's why they are scolding him (there could, quite likely, be a bird reason for the row, of which I have no ken. Like perhaps his new gardening hat offends owing to not smelling earthy enough yet? It's a nice hat. It has a smack of the Wyatt Earp about it).
Human nature is weird isn't it*?
We do seem to value 'the Rare'.
I had loads of excellent photos of nuthatch today, but I've chosen to blip the only one I had of a wren, which is less excellent.
I do like a wren though :-)
*No. It's just me that's weird. I knew it as I wrote it.
