Apple Thief

This is the blackbird that was so patient teaching his chicks to feed themselves last spring. He is looking a lot better now after being without tail feathers for several months.

Today his offspring were close by watching him steal my unripe apples. They are a scruffy pair, one male and one female. The male is almost bald on his face and head. I wonder if their Dad has passed on some sort of skin complaint.

The young male attempted to settle on the apple tree, but he was rudely chased off.

I took this through a window. I'd never get that close out of doors.
