Smoke

I finally went to Christchurch for the med check I didn't feel up to driving to last week. I did no more than I had to, getting plants, fruit and groceries, and came home without some of the things on my list. It was exhausting.

As I came closer to home I was amazed to see so much smoke. There has been a total fire ban in place for weeks. It must have been lifted today as there were columns of smoke in every direction.

I tried to get a better shot, but typically the smoke is further away than it appears, and by the time I reached it the fire was just about done.

This evening there is a dense layer of smoke in the sky, obscuring the mountains and taking the colour from the sunset.
