Charfield Mills
I seem to be blipping various bits of architecture encountered on our very local walks, and here's another iPhone shot.
This is the light industrial part of the village, leading out towards Huntingford. In the foreground an ongoing concern builds and restores fuel tankers and standing fuel tanks. Behind stand two of the three old millhouses; the Pin Mill and the Bone Mill. The third, in Huntingford, was a woollen mill. All are Listed.
The mills ran from the power of the Little Avon and from standing steam engines, and the area is prone to flooding. Around this time of year eight years ago the water level was above the top of the green tank shown here, and all the tanks were floating around the road.
The sky is blue here. Overnight the rain came in horizontally, and after we got home it returned. Such is autumn...
