Day 105. A strike day

Our office was closed today due to a strike. Mr Spoon is still ill and i had a strong back ache, so we took it easy. We went for a walk to the main Stupa.

This is one of the two places in Kathmandu that I don't like much. This is a open area in front of a monastery in Boudha. It is full of rubbish and plastic bags. Sometimes people make fires here and the smoke is so strong and makes us cough.
Maybe I don't appreciate this place as others do. This dump area is sometimes the restaurant of street dogs, holy cows and the home for many homeless people.
I wish I could help to clean up this area, some volunteer monks have cleaned it in the past but it gets full of rubbish again. It needs a different solution. In Kathmandu a waste management solution is at the bottom of the list of the government's priorities.
