Ever thought about thinking?

Quite a good day today - bright and cold. I'd arranged to have a walkabout this morning with Sue, a friend from Keep Oban Beautiful, to look at the state of the flower planters in the town centre. It’s been suggested that KOB maybe looks after them, or even chooses the content. There are maybe 18 in total, many square plastic planters, others three tier units, all filled, or partially filled, with pink geraniums and red begonias, and all unweeded or dead-headed. Three of the square tubs were damaged but all of the rest were fine, just dirty and often surrounded by weeds.

It sounds like a negative walk, but our aims are positive – we’ll see what the council says. While we were walking about it was impossible to miss the many examples of a total lack of thought on behalf of the authorities; my Blip today is one. Why not cut 12” off this pole? My extra is another – a tree filled with fairy lights, but the whole effect ruined by this large grey metal box wedged up in the tree. A bit of thinking required, people!

“In the information society, nobody thinks. We expected to banish paper, but we actually banished thought.” ― Michael Crichton.
