Into the night

My walks after work in the dark are proving quite interesting and enjoyable.  I see things I don't see in the daylight.  This year winter lights are being put up early, even a few Christmas trees have appeared.  This chapel (now used as a community meeting place) has recently been redecorated and lights have been installed to illuminate its frontage.  As I walked a bell was being rung at the main church in the village.  The sound reverberated through the quiet and cool air.  I stood in the darkness and listened.  The porch light for the church shone out through a row of ancient yews trees into the dark street.  Monday night is bell ringing practice night but I assume because of COVID just a single person is permitted to attend practice.  I am so grateful they did.
