The difference a wall makes

"Hello, chum."

I have three principal routes I can take to work but I generally eschew the fastest, most direct one, so it's really a choice of two. The longer and slower of those is along the back road out of Kirkby that leads to Oxenholme station. If you go this way, then just after you pass through Old Town, you will pass these two fellows in a field to your left.

I'm pretty sure I've posted a photo of them before but today this fellow was near the wall and it was all looking pretty photogenic, so I pulled over and grabbed my camera.

I chatted to him while I found a place to stand and framed my shot. He carried on looking at me until I'd finished and then returned to the patch of grass he'd been eating.

It was only after I'd returned to the car that I considered how much less relaxed and chatty I would have been if there hadn't been a wall between us. I wonder if he would have treated me any differently!
