pebble underneath my feet

On Monday Rhiannon and I tried to have a bit of a cultural day but it ended up being a bit sillier than that :)

After going to the caixa forum and the museo de arte reina sofía to check out Picasso's Guernica (one of my favourite paintings), we went for a walk around El Retiro (a massive park in the middle of Madrid). Rhiannon was most impressed with the fact that they had ornamental cabbages and that the trees looked as if they'd been cut/decorated by Edward Scissorhands! But the most fun was had a bit later when we decided to go around the lake on a rowing boat. I wasn't very good at it but look at what fun I'm having! Heehee!

Later on that evening, we met up with Miguel, an old friend from school I hadn't seen in 15 years! It was really nice seeing him and catching up on what we've been doing since we left school. Meeting old school friends is a funny ol thing isn't it? It kinda makes me reconsider the whole notion of having "made it" if that makes sense? Married with kids? Set up your own business? Travelled around the world? Is one more valid than the others? I guess whatever makes you happy, like rowing this boat was doing for me :)
