Mystery skull

This is the skull I found on the common earlier in the week. I assumed it was a bird because there were a few black feathers (probably Jackdaw) nearby but now I'm not at all sure what it is. Maximum dimensions are 5cm long and 2.5cm wide. Any ideas?
